Deepest Sympathies
Posted by Helen Burnett (Former neighbour and friend) On Wednesday, March 21, 2018
Yvonne ... I was happy to have a chance meeting with you in the Calgary Airport! And so happy to know where John was living. He and Del were great neighbourhood friends to everyone (North Vernon & Tennant) and always so interested in what was going on. He was very compassionate with my husband Jim when he had cancer. Fondly remembered as a good neighbour and friend.

I was sorry to read of the passing of John. He was probably the last one, of the originals, on Tennent Ave. I remember his good sense of humour and a visit with him at the 50th anniversary of Northdale Public School. Our love and prayers go out to all the family. Mary & Jim Wilson

Ken: sorry to hear about your dad. The two of us spent a lot of days golfing, going all the way back to the late '50s. John was always upbeat and great fun to be around, even in later years when I would pop in to visit at Tennant Ave. He was so dedicated to your mom that I thought her death took a lot of joy out of his life. A great guy.

Ken and all of the Maronets family,
Both Jayne and I were sad to hear of your dad's passing. I remember both he and Del as friendly and easy going people with a ready laugh and always welcoming. The many times I saw them as a friend of Rob's through University I recall them always seeming happy and enjoying life at the cottage or just puttering at home.I know Jayne enjoyed working with John at CFPL and has fond memories of him as well.
I last saw John at Rob's funeral and I remember how bad I felt for him having his son pass before him but he's now with Rob, Del and his parents and joined again in laughter.
My best wishes and condolences to you and your family and a special hello and warm thoughts to Cheryl and Andrew, please pass along our thoughts.
We will be making a donation to the Alzheimer Society in John's name.
Regards
Todd and Jayne Graham

Our heartfelt sympathy to the Maronets family.I will never forget when i started working
at london CFPL TV 10 in December 1955 John was already there as an experienced production worker.I have enjoyed many years of friendship with John as well as knowing
his wonderful wife Del.John was not only a hard dedicated worker to CFPL TV 10, but was also a man of integrity, but who also had a keen sense of justice towards his fellow employees.I lost touch with John back some years ago and had never heard of where John was living or what he was up to.I was saddened to find out in the lf press newspapers obituary yesterday about Johns passing on Monday March 12th/2018.This truly marks an end of an era of an all around wonderful man.Rest in Peace John.May the Maronets family find spiritual peace during this difficult time.

Our condolences to Ken and family. John as a great friend to all of the staff at CFPL-TV, and will be missed...greatly! His loss of hearing a few years back kept him from attending the monthly retiree's luncheons, and we missed his presence deeply. He was always in our thoughts and will continue to be so.

John played hockey in his youth, as well as an adult, on the CFPL Team 10 hockey team. This team would travel to surrounding communities and play against their local teams to raise funds for that community. The highlight of his hockey days came when he played on this team at the Montreal Forum.

In 1952, John was part of the Eastern Arctic Patrol, which was a federal initiative to support the Inuit communities in the far north. As an x-ray technician, he lived and worked on the icebreaker (C.D.Howe), where the Inuit people were brought on board and x-rayed for tuberculosis.

Oh Ken & Vonnie, we are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad Ken. We have so many fond memories of him and we can tell you that they all are fun memories. Your Dad lived a full life and so sad that your Mom died so young. John had such a wonderful smile and sense of adventure. The cottage he loved up North was a mirror of his love of nature. We saw how much he loved his sons and how much he was an influence with them. Much love to you and your family at this time. xoxo Mitch & Karn
