Obituary of Edna Davis
At Huronlea, Brussels, on Friday, March 03, 2017, Mrs. Edna Davis of Brussels, age 99 years. The former Edna Elliott, wife of the late Walter "Miller" Davis who predeceased her in 1979. Edna is the last surviving member of the Alexander and Elizabeth (Magee) Elliott family and was predeceased by sisters Irene Elliott and Dorothy Ryan and by brothers William, Norman, Edward and Lloyd Elliott. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
In her early working life, Edna and her husband Miller operated Holmedale Creamery in Wingham. Later she worked at the Wingham Advance Times and in the office at Wingham District High School. Edna then started a career teaching in the Commercial Department of F.E. Madill Secondary School. Her interests included the Huron Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, The Ladies Auxiliary at St. Paul's Trinity Anglican Church and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180.
Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham, Ontario on Saturday, March 11th, 2017, from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Reverend Richard Hall officiating. Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations to Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or St. Paul's Trinity Anglican Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
