Obituary of Verne M. Galbraith

At Chatham Retirement Resort, on Saturday, July 16, 2005, Mrs. Verne Galbraith of Wingham, age 84 years. Beloved wife of the late George Galbraith. Dear mother of Jack and Lynn Galbraith of Chatham, Sally and Don Haines of Markdale and Mac and Donna Galbraith of Durham. Also survived by fourteen grandchildren. Predeceased by her sisters Betty Muffitt, Adele (Dell) Fox and Joyce Heal. Verne's passion was teaching. She loved her students and received her greatest joy watching them learn. She was involved in the early years at C.K.N.X. - writing; on air announcing; and, she created and produced a children's program. Verne also shared her husband's interest in Standard Bred Horses, even after his death in 1973. Verne was the fifth generation of the Walker family in Wingham and was the last surviving member of the Alva J. Walker family. Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham, Ontario on Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 pm Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Rev. John Neilson officiating. Interment in Brussels Cemetery, Morris Township. Memorial donations to Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
