Obituary of Victoria Wild-Cox

Wild Cox, Victoria in her 93rd year, passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa on Thurs. April 10, 2008. Victoria, beloved wife of the late Harold E. Wild (1981 Wingham), and the late Leon Cox (1988 Lindsay). Loving mother to Jim Wild (Gail) of Whitby and JohnWild of Vancouver. Stepmother to Wendy (David) Woychyshyn, Manitoba and Leona (Charles) Ristau, Alberta. Dearly loved by fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Born Victoria Droumbolis Aug. 15, 1915 at Fort William (Thunder Bay) Ontario. Loving sister of Kathleen (Allan) Hick of London and Capt. Viola Droumbolis of Napanee; predeceased by sisters Sylvia (Stan) Peckham, Mary (Claude) Biggar and Cleopatra. Victoria was a member of many Wingham Clubs and Associations: Ladies Rifle Club, United Church Women (UCW), Rebekah Majestic Lodge, Recreation Council, Curling Club and Figure Skating Club. Victoria was on the Ontario Recreation Council for the Mentally Handicapped Children. She was one of the early members of the Wingham Figure Skating Club and over many years served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. As well she was involved in many carnivals and helped instruct the younger members. Victoria was a skating judge sanctioned by the Canadian Figure Skating Assoc. She received the Canadian Certificate of Merit from the Government of Canada in 1988 for her contribution in Figure Skating and work with the mentally handicapped children. Victoria was inducted into the North Huron Sports Wall of Fame at the community complex in 2004. Funeral Services will be held at Westminster United Church, Whitby, on Monday at 11:00 am. Graveside services will be held at Wingham Cemetery, on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Donations in memory of Vickie may be made to the Wingham Figure Skating Club, Wingham Ontario.
