Obituary of Audrey D. Ritter
Passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010, following a long journey with Parkinson's Disease and age related illnesses at Huronlea, Huron County Home for the Aged at Brussels. Loving wife and best friend of Bob Ritter whom she married on August 8, 1953 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Jacobs. Cherished mother of Karen and Geoff Sutherland of London, Jim and Sheila Ritter of Belleville, and David and Michele Ritter of North Bay. Treasured grandmother of Leah, Scott, and Nathan Sutherland; Heather and Paul Ritter; and Michael and Mark Ritter. She will also be remembered by her niece, Marcia Magnes, and her nephew, Scott Voelzing, both of Ottawa. Audrey is predeceased by her parents, Eldon and Lillie (Wittnebel) Voelzing, her step-mother, Edith (Wittnebel) Voelzing, and her brother and sister-in-law, Malcolm and Vivian Voelzing. Audrey was a dedicated volunteer for over twenty-five years with the Wingham and District Hospital Association, and an active member of the Ladies Guild and Altar Guild of St. Paul's Trinity Anglican Church in Wingham. She was also a past president of the Wingham Golf and Curling Club. At Audrey's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Huronlea on a date to be announced. A private graveside committal service for the immediate family will take place later with interment in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in St. Jacobs. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements are entrusted to the McBurney Funeral Home in Wingham.
