Obituary of Catherine Genevieve Rich
Peacefully, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, at Huronlea, Brussels on Monday, February 6th, 2012. Kay (Fitzpatrick) Rich of Brussels, and formerly Wingham, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Edward Rich who predeceased her in 2001. Loving mother of George and Mary Rich of R.R. # 2, Bayfield, Warren and Evelyn Rich of Belgrave, Ruth Anne and Keith Brighton of Kitchener, Ken and Sheila Rich of Fordwich and Darlene and Todd Millin of Fonthill. Cherished by her grandchildren Paul Rich, Jason Rich (Susan), Amanda Rich (Phil), Patrick Brighton (Nicole), Brandy Brighton (Adam) and Katie. Also survived by three great-grandchildren, Henry, Hunter and Lyric, sister Mildred Holmes of Kitchener, sister-in-law Mary Fitzpatrick of London and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Maurice and Leah (McCormick) Fitzpatrick, sisters Theresa Dunn, Edith McLeod and brother George Fitzpatrick. Besides raising a family, Kay was the past president of the Catholic Women’s League and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. She was an avid volunteer with the Red Cross as well as the Gift Shop at the Wingham Hospital. She worked at both the Simpson Sears and the Eaton’s order offices in Wingham as well as CKNX. Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham, Ontario on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 pm and on Friday from 9:30-10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 11:00 am. Father K.P. Morrison officiating. Interment in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham, Ontario. Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society of Ontario or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Vigil Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:45 pm.
