I’m not sure how I ended up coming across this as it’s been many, many years since I knew Joan, but perhaps this was one of those mysterious ways the universe works, and some higher power felt it was important that I knew this news. Joan was my first supervisor of my very first job at Chudleigh’s Apple Farm. I could never forget the kindness and patience she showed while I tried to learn the ropes in a very busy atmosphere, often with impatient customers. Despite my young age, she treated me like an equal yet also provided that maternal, nurturing presence. Her smile in the accompanying photo to this notice is exactly how I remember her. My sincerest condolences go out to Joan’s family.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Brewer/MacFarlane families. Joan was a friend to all. When our paths crossed I was always greeted with a smile and soon we were sharing a laugh. I have many fond memories of Joan and they all include her little chuckle, her big beautiful smile and conversations including her children and grandchildren. Joan was gifted when it came to creating anything from fabric. She had an eye for detail that produced that professional look. RIP Joan. Marie Walker Sending my sympathies to all of Joan’s family. I am Jane friend Joan's neighbor. I was lucky enough to meet Joan thru Jane. Joan was a lovely lovely lady always with a wee chuckle and a great big smile. I have a top that Joan made for Jane as gift for me and I will always cherish that and remember her fondly when I wear it. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
