Obituary of Shawn McKay

At Wingham & District Hospital on Saturday, June 15, 2024, Shawn McKay of Lucknow, passed away at the age of 61.

Loving husband of Karen McKay. Cherished dad of Angela Hartin & Jamie Riley, Lisa & Joe Karpyshyn and Kiana McKay & Dave Rutledge. Devoted grandpa of Jeylin, Westin, Chanel, Mitchell, Emmalyia, Karalyna, Harlow, Presley and Phoenix. Son of Marjorie McKay and step-son of Patricia McKay. Brother of Heather Swanson, Paul McKay and Peter McKay. Shawn will be missed by his faithful companion, Benji who never left his side and Karen’s brothers; Kevin, Darin, Dean and Kyle and their families. Predeceased by his dad David McKay.

Shawn will forever be remembered as a loving dedicated husband, father, and grandfather by his family. His years of dedication and employment to Volvo enabled him to provide a wonderful upbringing to his family which was something he valued and prided himself on as the only male of the house. With a career as a Certified Autobody Repairman he was able to fully restore his 69 Camaro, purchased at the age of 17 which has since been passed on to his daughter Kiana since she autographed the car as a child, shortly after being restored. His deep rooted love and passion as the number one tractor pulling fan was something that kept his social skills polished as he often engaged with strangers in lengthy conversations.

Shawn's contagious smile and sparkling personality will be forever missed by all.

Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Wednesday, June 19th, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
