Obituary of Anson 'Sam' Ruttan

Anson 'Sam' George Wilmot Ruttan, formerly of Wingham and Fordwich, passed away at Huronlea, Brussels on Friday, June 3, 2022 at the age of 97 years.

Beloved husband of Wilda (Montgomery) Ruttan of 77 years.

Father of Audrey & Garfield Gibson of Listowel, Jack & Helen Ruttan of Fordwich, and Janis & Bill Wallace of Bayfield. 

Grandfather of Greg Gibson, Shelley Brooks, Ian Gibson, Ryan Ruttan  & Jen Trudeau, Andrea & Brian Verhaeghe, Graham Wallace & Jolyanne Landry, and Jennifer Wallace. 

Great-grandfather of Mitchell and MacKenzie Brooks, James Ruttan, and Carter and Camden Verhaeghe.

Also survived by sisters-in-law Lovina Ruttan, Dorothy Ruttan, Marg Montgomery, and Melva Fraser.

Predeceased by his parents Leonard & Margaret (Snell) Ruttan, and siblings Bennett, Arthur, Russel, Leo, Bob, and sister Gwen Fraser.

Sam enjoyed life to the fullest and loved chatting with people at the local coffee shops. With his loving wife he enjoyed travel, square dancing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends at the cottage. 

Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Fordwich Cemetery.  The service will be live-streamed.
