Obituary of Robert “Dean” Newson

At Huron Hospice in Clinton on Friday, November 12th, 2021, Dean Newson of Wingham, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with a brain tumour at the age of 63.

Dean loved sports, especially golf, the Toronto Maple Leafs, spending time with his friends, his dogs but most of all his family. 

Loving husband of Pat (Gillespie) Newson. Cherished dad of Mitchell Newson and Macpherson “Max” Newson. Beloved son of Robert Newson. Treasured brother of Luann Sunohara, David & Nancy Newson and Laurel & Kevin Lake. Son-in-law of George & Vera Gillespie and brother-in-law of Liza & Dan Sweeney. Dearly loved nephew of Shirley & Sandy Hucul, Carol & Richard Byers and Doug McDowell. Dean will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Karyn, Kristen, Kevin, Matthew, Michelle, Danielle, Madeleine, Olivia, Charlotte, Nolan, Ethan, Caitlin and Caroline, as well as by his many friends, coworkers and customers. Predeceased by his mother Doreen Newson, niece Ashley Newson and his aunts and uncles, Larry Newson, Betty McDowell, Merilyn Stevenson, Bill & Penny Kerwin.

A funeral to honour Dean’s life will be held on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 at the Wingham Columbus Centre at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to attend the funeral must RSVP through our website (please scroll down). In lieu of a visitation, a come and go celebration of Dean’s life will be held following the funeral from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Proof of vaccination and ID will be required prior to entry and masks must be worn.
