Obituary of Pearl Hodgins

At Braemar Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Pearl Hodgins (nee King) of Wingham passed away peacefully four days before her 95th birthday. Her faith and family were her foundation. Time spent with her family and friends were always a priority for her.

Pearl was the beloved wife of the late “Wib” Wilbert Hodgins who predeceased her in 1981. She was the loving mother of Larry and Verna Hodgins of Wingham, and Lanna and Ron Abbott of Brantford.Pearl was known as “Nana P” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other family members and close friends. She was adored by her grandchildren Debbie Hodgins (Green), Gavin (Debra) Hodgins, Shamus (Joe Devoe) Abbott, Brit (Jamie) Abbott, and Jeff (Angie) Storey. She was loved dearly by her great-grandchildren: Shaelin, Shelby and Spencer Green; Hannah and Jackson Hodgins, and Alana Woods, Simon and Landry Read; Eliotte Brouillard; Lola and Bowie Abbott; and Payton Storey. Pearl was the cherished sister of Wilma and Cecil Sutton of Ripley, and loved “Auntie” to many nieces and nephews. Pearl was predeceased by her parents George and Eva King, and siblings Willex and Maxine King, Mae and Ray Myatt, Mildred and Stewart Couch (and Art Ward); and her parents in-law Fredrick and Florence Hodgins, and sister in-law Eunice Fair.

Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend do not need to register, but please wear a mask and respect physical distancing. A private family service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Although the service is private, we invite you to participate by watching the service safely from your own home, please click here. Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or Wingham and District Hospital Foundation (Ladies Auxiliary) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
