Predeceased by her parents Ralph & Anna (Weiler) Schurter, brothers-in-law Bill Kieffer, Jim McGregor, and Elton Ehgoetz, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Hallahan, and niece Lisa Schurter.
Lorraine was born in Walkerton on December 19th, 1948. She was a dedicated teacher and began teaching at the age of nineteen at Sacred Heart School in Teeswater. Lorraine met and married her husband Jim in 1970 and together they raised five amazing children on their dairy farm in Blyth. She returned to teaching as her children grew older and loved the many generations of students that she taught throughout her career; especially the little ones in kindergarten. In addition to teaching, Lorraine was an avid reader, and enjoyed fishing and time at the cottage affectionately calling it her 'wee slice of Heaven'. She volunteered for many years at the Huron Pioneer Threshers. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored; playing cards and board games, having campfires and watching their sporting events. Lorraine will be remembered for her heart of gold, warm smile, cheerful laugher, and her love and commitment to her family.
