My condolences to Jeremy, Jennifer and Jeffrey and your families. Verna was one classy lady who very quickly changed from being a good neighbour to being a good friend. She liked a laugh and a good story but she loved her family.

Jeremy, Jenn, Jeffery and families. So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Words for one to express of how you feel most often are inadequate. Time does heal and the hurt will lessen but it really never goes away. But you have treasured memories tucked within your heart. Think of your Mom as a Rose within your heart. Petals of memories from that rose will fall but the colour of your Mom's soul will never fade.

I had visited Verna one day to drop off a package that I had wanted to go to Sault Ste. Marie for our grandchildren. I knew she was going up that week. She was on the floor crocheting sleeping mats from empty milk bags. She wasn't sure of the stitch she was doing. She asked for me to check as she did it. Then both of us were on the floor. She mastered the stitch plus another one that would go a bit faster. After some time on the floor I laughed and said I was not good at getting up most of the time. She said "Nor am I on most of these days." After a laugh or two we were standing upright.
We said our good byes and Verna went on crocheting. She was doing these mats with a group of ladies for countries in need.

So very sorry to hear of Verna's passing. We were hired the same day at Campbell's many years ago and became quick friends. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor and she was always a joy to work with and also just to talk to. It is with great sadness that I heard of her passing. I would occasionally run into her in Wingham and we would always have a good chat, complete with one of her all encompassing bearhugs. I will miss those chats.
My condolences to you all on your loss.

With all the snow we have received I can’t help but remember fondly the fun Sleigh rides our family would enjoy with Verna’s family.
We were both 4-H members and had lots of fun in the community of St. Helens. As many have already said we all admired Verna’s positivity no matter whatever the situation. May she Rest In Peace after such a courageous battle with Cancer.
Love to All,

Verna was a force of nature. She was fiercely honest, tenderly generous and wise. Verna was my friend and a very loved member of my family. Even though we lived so far apart (I live in Vancouver), when we did have a chance to be together, it was like time had not passed. We would curl up on the couch and talk for hours. Okay... there was wine too! I will miss her energy on the planet. See you on the other side my friend.

Verna was so energetic and a real on the move lady as evident to the tributes being shared. I can just picture her running with cancellations at CKNX along with her enthusiasm. I don't know how she ever managed to fit everything into a day.
Verna was fun and always lived life with such positivity no matter what challenge she faced.
Her face was lit up whenever she spoke of her family who she enjoyed so much.
Verna's friendship was a gift that now holds cherished memories.
Warm, heartfelt sympathies to Jeremy, Jennifer, Jeffrey and families and to all of Verna's family.

Verna and I both drove school bus, and both volunteered for a time at One Care. Her down to earth personality made it easy to be her friend.
She gave her all in everything she did, and did so with a positive outlook.
Life for Verna was an adventure, in which she enthusiastically participated. Love for her family was evident in the sparkle of her eyes, and the glow of pride on her face whenever she talked about them. Her grandchildren were the jewels in her crown.
She will be missed by many.
May your memories of her be as a soothing balm to all your hearts.
With heartfelt condolences.
