Obituary of Thora Patricia Vance

At Gilbert Hall on Tuesday, Mrs. Thora Patricia Vance of Wingham, at the age of 103.

Beloved wife of the late Leland “Lee” Vance who predeceased her in 2006. Predeceased by parents Alfred & Ethel (née Dymant) Libby and her brother Russell Libby. Thora and her husband Leland owned and operated Vance's Pharmacy in Wingham up until their retirement. Both Mr. and Mrs. Vance were members of Wingham United Church. They were dearly loved in the community by many friends and former employees, who were their family. Thora will be especially missed by Ernie Cook “Sonny Jim” & partner Barbara von der Gonna of Wingham and Chrissy Semple of Newmarket.

Thora was deeply grateful for the care and compassion and willingness to go above and beyond that Wanda and the staff of Gilbert Hall provided her in her final years. Gilbert Hall was like home to her and a place where she was treated like family which she was eternally grateful for. 

Visitation will be held at Wingham United Church, Wingham on Saturday, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. (*please note time change). Reverend Colin Snyder officiating. Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery.
