Obituary of S.J. “Jack” Walker
At his residence on Thursday, January 17, 2019, Jack Walker of Woodstock and formerly of Wingham and Goderich at the age of 92 years.
Beloved husband of Edith (Cook) Walker of Woodstock for 71 years. Loving father of Pat Stewart (Greg) of Phoenix, Arizona, and David Walker (Stella) of Woodstock. Dear grampy of Carley & Tim Welch, Scott Stewart, Amanda Height all of Arizona, Jennifer & Jason Church, Adam Walker and Kris Pratt all of Woodstock. Special great-grampy of seven. Predeceased by his parents Russel & Agnes (Stonehouse) Walker, sister Dawna Sproule (Bob), brothers-in-law Harvey Cook (Grace), and Albert Cook (Jean), and sisters-in-law Margaret Robinson (Ross), Zella Crawford (Ernie), and Alice Nicholson (Garner).
Jack & Edith were the owners and operators of Walker’s Home Furnishings, Wingham until 1974 and S.J. Walker Funeral Home, Wingham until 1979. After moving to Goderich Jack continued to work part-time in the funeral profession until his retirement at the age of 80.
Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home (formerly S.J. Walker Funeral Home), Wingham on Monday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at McBurney Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place, Wingham Cemetery.
