Obituary of George Underwood

At Wingham & District Hospital on Saturday, October 25, 2014, George Underwood of Wingham, age 84 years. Leader and innovator in Canada’s agricultural community. Beloved husband of sixty years to the late Helen (Lear) Underwood, who predeceased him on March 31st of this year. Loving father of Susan Underwood and Ken Fowler of Stratford, Nelson Underwood, and John and Susan Underwood all of Wingham, Kathy Underwood and Beth Anne Currie of Owen Sound, and Aileen (Ene) Underwood of Toronto. Dear grandfather of Kate, Maitland, Matthew, Ben and Alison Underwood, Andrea (AJ) and Victoria (Tori) Adams and Brandon (Zion) Alberga. Brother of Jean MacDonald of Toronto. Uncle of Connie and Bruce Green of Toronto. Brother-in-law of June Crawford of Burlington and Harry and Gail Lear of Londesborough. Remembered by Garry Adams of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his parents Nelson and Lillian (Moffatt) Underwood, his sister Aileen Lewis, his daughter-in-law Amber Underwood, and his beloved dog Joe. Cherished friend of Tim Willis and his many friends from the Old Cars Club, the Allis Chambers Club , the Blyth Threshermen’s Reunion, the Bluevale Men’s Card Club and the University of Guelph Class of ’49. Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham, Ontario on Wednesday, 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Wingham United Church on Thursday at 1:00 pm. Reverend Richard D. Hall officiating. Interment in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham, Ontario. Memorial donations to Wingham & District Hospital, Wingham United Church, University of Guelph or Country Heritage Park would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
