Obituary of Ivan Fligg

At Hospice Waterloo on Thursday, February 15, 2024, Ivan Fligg of Waterloo and formerly of Turnberry Estates, Wingham, passed away surrounded by family at the age of 82.

 

Devoted husband of the late Mary (Summers) Fligg who predeceased him in 2015. Loving dad of Susan & Duane Losch of Cambridge and Steve & Nancy Fligg of Brantford. Cherished grandpa of Nathan Kuehl, Courtney & John McColl and Justin & Cassie (Brinovcar) Losch. Great-grandpa of Anna Kuehl and McKenna McColl. Brother of Doreen & Ed McReynolds of Woodstock and Ila & Dave Middleton of Bracebridge and brother-in-law of Thelma Fligg of Meaford, Bonnie Summers of Montana, Ruth & Walt Squire of Chatham, John Summers of Waterloo, Gord & Pat Summers of Saskatchewan, David & Sue Summers of Owen Sound and Richard Kane of California. Ivan will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families.

 

Predeceased by his parents Harry & Mabel Fligg, brother Allan Fligg, sister Audrey Buckingham and her husband Don, parents-in-law William & Kathleen Summers, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Kane and Dianne Summers, and brother-in-law Bert Summers. 

 

Ivan drove bus for the Grand River Transit for 27 years. He deeply loved the Lord and faithfully served in the church for many years in a variety of ways. He had a passion for woodworking and blessed family and friends with his woodworking gifts. He loved his friends and neighbours at Woodland Terrace where he lived for the last nearly 8 years and considered them family. He enjoyed serving as part-time superintendent and enjoyed helping his neighbours and church family with any projects they asked him to help with.

 

A private gathering for immediate family will take place with interment at Wingham Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Waterloo on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ShareWord Global (formally Gideons International) or First Baptist Church, Waterloo would be appreciated.
