I was so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. We worked at CKNX, he in the”Enlightened” media of radio, me I worked for the “Dark Side”. Our paths crossed regularly. He never told me a joke, but our talks on the days’ events, what was happening at the station, or news from around the world, everything was accented by his wry humour. It was a world of broadcasting where you knew everyone in the building. A work environment that was a bit more, gentle, a bit more human, and Jack went a long way to make that happen. I had the pleasure of working with Jack Gillespie nearly 20yrs ago when Blackburn Radio (as the company was called then) launched a hybrid rock station --half classic rock / half new modern rock-- as a 'brother station' to CKNX AM & FM. Jack was an integral part of that team having navigated the new licence from the CRTC in Ottawa/Hull. From our many long conversations in his office, it was clear to me he was a man of quiet strength and a sharp mind. He was results oriented, but did it by focusing upon people and helping to make them better, --not numbers. His legacy of the annual hospital fundraiser will be felt for generations!
RiP Jack! I always enjoyed our chats. Thanks for all you did so unselfishly!

I only met Jack a few times through Hilary. I was always impressed with his intelligence. A sharp mind, and good conversationalist.

After 44 years in Broadcasting, with nearly two decades at CKNX along the way, I've worked for and with some of the most intelligent people in the business. Jack remains at the top of that list. Jack was my Mentor. When I make decisions, I often think "how would Jack handle this?".
I last talked to Jack at Gary Ballagh's retirement party. He was as bright and engaging as always. Two hours of chat went by in minutes.
To Nancy and family, I sincerely wish you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

Jack was my boss at CKNX in the late 1980s. I wasn't his easiest employee but he was always patient with me. I'm so glad we got to visit a few years ago in Wingham and we laughed about some of my antics and how people change. I'm so sorry for Nancy and the rest of his family. Memories of him loom large from my four years in Wingham. Rest easy, Jack.

Very sorry to have heard the news of Jack's passing this morning. I remember first meeting Jack while I was the CKNX co-op student in 1995. Jack took the time to meet with me and give me some guidance as to what I should consider for my future. His advice was to go into television. His reasoning was well thought out as he explained that video would become much more prominent in the years ahead and a background in television would be beneficial. I guess Jack must have saw the internet coming. I didn't go into television. My time at CKNX was too influential, as the place was just too much fun, mostly due to Jack's leadership.
Thank you Jack for your part in influencing me to go into radio. My condolences to the family and many thanks for sharing Jack with 215 Carling Terrace.
