Obituary of Karen Young

It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Elaine Young announce her passing on July 30th, 2022 at the age of 57. She will be forever remembered by her parents Jim and Jean Young and by her siblings Marty and Joanne, Jamie and Cheryl, Liane and Paul.

Karen will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, Kayla, Erica, Bryan and Jodi, Jordan and Olivia, Tyler and Kaitlin, Brody and Kara, and Rebecca and Cody. Karen leaves behind her great-niece Aubree, and great-nephews Logan and Callum as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by her grandparents Clifford and Lillian Young and Donald and Mary Martin.

Karen was an entrepreneur in St. Catharines before moving onto new endeavours in St. Thomas. Much like her favourite books, Karen was a character in and of herself. She was a bright and quick-witted individual with a sassy personality and a phenomenal sense of humour. Karen loved spending her free time on the couch with a coca cola in one hand and a book in the other, eager to have her latest novel transport her into a new world and universe every time she opened the cover.

From a young age Karen had a love for music whether it be singing, playing the piano, tearing up the dance floor, or simply just rocking out to her favourite tunes. Karen was a force of nature who lived life on her own terms right until the very end.

“Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong.”- Lora C Mercado
