Obituary of Denis Langridge

At Wingham & District Hospital on Thursday, January 16, 2014, Mr. Denis Langridge of Wingham, age 87 years. Beloved husband of Shirley (Ellis) Langridge. Son of the late Frederick and Florence (Day) Langridge. Brother-in-law of Margaret Langridge of Belleville. Survived by three nieces and three nephews. Predeceased by his brothers John and Anthony Langridge. Denis was born and educated in England. He came to Canada in 1948 and farmed in Morris Township until 1966. Denis was a member of the St. Paul's Anglican Church and an adherent of the Wingham United Church. He was a past Master of Wingham Masonic Lodge # 286, a member of Lebanon Chapter # 84 Royal Arch Masons, past District Deputy Grand Master of North Huron District. He was a member of Lodge of Perfection and Rose Croix, Guelph and Scottish Rites, Hamilton. Denis also served as Grand Director of Ceremonies for Ontario 1995-1996 and was a past patron of Huron Chapter # 89, Order of the Eastern Star. Denis is also known for his volunteer service as a driver for the Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels. Masonic service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 pm. Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham, Ontario on Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:30 pm. Reverend Richard D. Hall officiating. Interment in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham, Ontario. Memorial donations to Wingham United Church or the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
