Obituary of Barbara Anderson
At Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020, Barbara Anderson formerly of Belgrave passed away peacefully one day after her 98th birthday.
Beloved wife of the late G. Ross Anderson who predeceased her in 2016 after 65 years of marriage. Loving mother of Richard Anderson & Anne-Catherine Jean of Goderich, Nancy & Rick Ball of Hanover, Doreen Anderson-Roy & Rob Roy of Peterborough and Sheila Anderson-Cousins & Doug Cousins of Guelph. Cherished grandmother to Matthew & Danielle Ball, Alicia Brewer, Christina Roy, Emily Roy & Stuart David, Daniel Anderson & Kristen Hatherall, Sarah Anderson, Brandon Cousins & Brittany Reidy and Jordyn Cousins and great-grandmother to Jackson Ball and Cadance and Josie Brewer. Sister-in-law to Donna Shaw and Lloyd & Eleanor Anderson. Predeceased by her brother George Michie, special cousin Bob Grasby, and her parents, Jean (Cole) and James Michie.
After graduating high school, Barbara attended Stratford Normal School and taught school in Brussels, Hensall and Ingersoll. Following the Second World War, she married Ross Anderson and together they operated the hardware store in Belgrave for 40 years. Barbara was actively involved in her community and church and enjoyed gardening, quilting, rug hooking, camping, and travel. After Ross passed away, Barbara made her home at Goderich Place Retirement Home where she enjoyed the many activities, outings and visits with friends, new and old. Her family was her pride and joy, and she treasured time spent with her loved ones.
Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the spring at Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
