Obituary of Bruce Ortlieb

At his residence on Friday, November 22, 2019, Bruce Ortlieb of Bluevale, at the age of 64.

Loving husband of Betty (Marks) Ortlieb for 44 years. Cherished dad of Angie Ortlieb-Sinopoli & Sam Sinopoli and Mark Ortlieb. Devoted papa of Emaline and Mason. Dear son of Clara Ortlieb and the late Bernard Ortlieb. Brother of Larry & Kathleen, Linda & Dennis Wharton, Annette & Ken Marks, Betty & Jeff Thornton, Debbie & Jim Wickens, Brenda Inglis & DeWayne Golley, Helen Whytock & Tom Burke, Rob Ortlieb and Cathy & Rob Steffler. Bruce will be missed by Betty's siblings, Jack & Doreen Marks and Alice Stapleton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his sister Evelyn Tanner, brother-in-law Wade Stapleton and parents-in-law John & Emaline Sturdy and Stanley Marks.

Bruce will be remembered in many different ways as he wore many different hats within his family and community.  He proudly worked at Wescast Industries for 37 years and later with Burke’s Tent Rentals. He was hardworking and organized.  He fixed, built, designed and invented for everyone who knew him. Along with his wife, Betty and extended family and friends, he even built his own home.  He had a wide variety of interests during his life such as playing baseball, gardening, woodworking, playing guitar, hunting, fishing, coin collecting, playing cards and building model trains.  He could often be found enjoying a coffee in his garden, out on the trails snowmobiling, in his garage, at the gun club, watching history documentaries or snuggling with one of the dogs. He loved being goofy with the grandkids or showing them simple pleasures such as feeding the fish in his pond.  Bruce was an avid Leaf fan, a jokester, a lifelong learner but most of all a resilient, generous and kind person. He was a family man who will be missed so dearly. If you would like to honour Bruce’s memory, please persevere through a tough challenge in your life, commit an act of kindness or pull a prank to make someone laugh.

Visitation will take place at McBurney Funeral Home, on Monday, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Wingham on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Final resting place, Wingham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
